Workshops Karpaty Tango Festival 2026

Learning tango isn't about collecting figures. It's about discovering new possibilities of movement, musicality, and connection in dance. During the festival workshops, Maja & Marko invite you to explore tango with greater awareness, precision, and freedom—always with an eye toward technique and the natural flow of the dance. All workshops begin at 12:00 PM and are held in two 1.5-hour blocks, with a 30-minute break in between.

Women's Technique • Boleos and Adornos

Forward and backward ocho and boleo will become the foundation for various embellishments and combinations. We will focus on rhythm, technical precision, and quality of movement. Participants should have a solid foundation in ocho and boleo. This lesson is intended for solo participants.

14:00–15:30

Couples Technique • Quality of Movement

This class is about the journey, not the destination. If you want your dance to be softer, more fluid, and more connected, this workshop is for you. We will show you how to control projections, weight shifts, and pivots through conscious transitions and connections in movement.

Tango • Rebounds for All Occasions

This fun, repetitive combination of small steps could be exactly the element your interpretation of music has been missing.

We'll start with small rebounds and combine them into a dynamic, full-of-possibilities sequence, presenting new challenges to both leaders and followers.

Waltz • The Rhythmic Richness of the Waltz

In this class, we will examine four different waltz rhythm patterns and build a solid foundation for a fuller and more conscious dance of this incredibly beautiful genre.

Tango • Phrasing and pause

Changing dynamics is one of the most important elements of tango. During this class, we will focus on conscious phrasing and choosing the right moment to pause. This lesson will be a combination of musicality and technique.

If the previous sentence was difficult to read, it's because it lacked phrasing and rests. We will show you how to build logical and beautifully constructed tango sentences.

Waltz • Vals in a Small Space

Using the traspié technique, we'll demonstrate some practical and very enjoyable waltz combinations. Crowded milongas are the perfect place to use them.
